Learn How to Play Any Song Using Tux Guitar

Guitar Tux Midi

Some years back I posted about this great program called TuxGuitar. Tux Guitar is a free sheet music editor and composition editor program it works with Linux, Windows, Mac and FreeBSD. This is somewhat of an update for that post and to show you how much it has evolved these past couple of years.

I am going to show you how to get any sheet music for, almost, any song out there that you would like to learn how to play and the coolest part is that is completely free.

1. Get the program, here, download and install.

2. To get any MIDI file simply open your favorite browser and go to Google.com and search for it, ex Fields of Gold by Sting MIDI.

3. Open TuxGuitar and go to File>Import>MIDI, now browse where your file is located and import it into the program.

4. Once you are in the program its time to learn it.   From here you are able to listen to the track and  transpose the file up and down  to any key and it’ll shows you every note. Hope this helps, enjoy Cheers!!!

Guitar Hero World Tour!

Guitar Hero World Tour (initially referred to as Guitar Hero IV) is the latest addition in the music video gameGuitar Hero series, and is being developed by Neversoft and published by RedOctane and Activision. Guitar Hero World Tour will be expected to be available for  Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and Wii consoles on October 26, 2008.

It will have the same guitar controller with one different Guitar Hero World Tour will be the first game in Guitar Hero Franchise to feature drums and microphone for the percussion and vocal parts you know basically like Rock Band, in my part Guitar Hero World Tour will be better than Rock Band.

The game will allow users to create new songs, including drums, rhythm guitar, lead guitar and bass guitar, although the studio mode will not allow players to record vocals, officially due to copyright and storage limitations, among other undisclosed reasons also players will have the opportunity  to upload and share their songs as well as download others’ songs through a service known as GHTunes.

I think the one of the coolest part about this game are the drums, Im a drummer my self and I can not wait for this game to come out, but I let you see a video where they explain how the drums came alive in Guitar Hero World Tour

Players will be able to use  “create a rocker” mode just like “create a skater” mode in Tony Hawk and they are going to be able to change the way they stand or balance, their clothing, tattoos, makeup and their age. Also players are going to be able to customize their guitars, drums and microphone.

New iPhone3G

Apple is launching the new and most incredible (for me) phone ever seen in the world. Introducing iPhone 3G. With fast 3G wireless technology, GPS mapping, support for enterprise features like Microsoft Exchange, and the new App Store, iPhone 3G puts even more features at your fingertips. And like the original iPhone, it combines three products in one — a revolutionary phone, a widescreen iPod, and a breakthrough Internet device with rich HTML email and a desktop-class web browser. iPhone 3G. It redefines what a mobile phone can do — again. It schedule to be release in July 11.

It has a lot of cool features. To bad I can’t get one

iPhone 3G will come with more features than the first one you can read more about them in Apple’s page.

Elisa Media Center

What do u know, few days ago i was looking for a music good player for Hardy Heron, and i used Songbird before because it looks pretty cool but i don’t think is running on the latest release of Ubuntu yet so, I read in forums about gmusicbrowser that include Album covers and it looks great but didn’t quite like it. So i kept reading and i found this great media Center call Elisa. Includes Album arts, Picture Views, Dvd player and few other stuff.

Elisa is a project to create an open source media center solution for GNU/Linux and Unix operating systems. Elisa runs on top of the GStreamer multimedia framework. In addition to personal video recorder functionality (PVR) and Music Jukebox support, Elisa will also interoperate with devices following the DLNA standard like Intel’s ViiV systems.
GStreamer is a streaming media framework, based on graphs of filters which operate on media data. Applications using this library can do anything from real-time sound processing to playing videos, and just about anything else media-related. Its plugin-based architecture means that new data types or processing capabilities can be added simply by installing new plug-ins.
This package contains the elisa executables.

Here is how to install and u should check it out !

The beauty of this Media Center is that is already on the Latest Version of Ubuntu. So what we do first is go Applications > add and remove programs

Once u there your system will search for Available Applications and when Add and Remove programs appears all u have to do is Type Elisa on the “search bar” and select the check box beside the program and click Apply Changes

Add and Remove

and like every good System it would ask u to make sure you want to Apply the changes again so just press Apply, and it will start the installation process.

after installed it would appear a dialog box just close it

and thats pretty much it. you can find your new Elisa Media Center by clicking on Applications > Sound and Video > and obviously Elisa Media Center

Display

They are Cool features in this program, it let you enjoy music and album arts, photos and videos, plus it has three cool themes. i just installed myself and i recommend it, is running like a charm on my pc, but i will let you be the judge.

In case u are running an older version of Ubuntu you can go to the main page and download the package, also Elisa runs on Xp and Mac Os as well , so here is a link for the main page Elisa Media Center

Enjoy, Cheers!

How to play guitar tabs in Ubuntu!

Recently I was looking for a program that would help me to play tablatures in the computer. If you are using windows you can use PowerTab Editor but I couldn’t find a software compatible with Ubuntu. So I did a little research and I found this beautiful program called TuxGuitar.

I know there is a lot of Ubuntu users that play guitar and are looking for a program that would help you play those songs you love. Well TuxGuitar is an open source software program written in Java. It is a tablature editor, score writer and player targeted at guitarists. This program separates the instruments in different channels and displays a much more better visual way to see and learn tabs (it also display bass, acoustic, drums depending on the powertab), it supports this types of files TUXGUITAR, PTB, GP2, GP3, GP4, GP5.

Another cool thing about this program that believe or not it runs on Windows (Xp and Vista for sure) and Mac also so is multiplatform and is totally free.
